One of the most famous figures to emerge from Iran’s conflict with the U.S. and Israel is the spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters (KCHQ), Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahmin Zolfaghari. On one hand he is seen as a symbol of the Islamic Regime resistence, and a meme on the other. Throughout the conflict, Zolfaghari has been a regular face in international media, and in his public speeches he has critisized and even insulted President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Some believe that the spokesperson of KCHQ isn’t real, but a product of artificial intelligence. These outlandish claims suggest that he is being used as political propaganda. X users have said these claims are undeniable because his body movements are completely mechanical and whilst there has been an attempt to “sync” them with his words, this has not been successful. They also say that he never blinks and according to one AI video detector website there is a 27% chance he is an AI creation.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) raised speculation on their Persian language X account, suggesting that Zolfaghari might be an AI product, and asked their audience if they had ever seen him in interviews or in the field. If not, they asked for help in proving that he is an AI creation.

In response to the growing claims, Zolfaghari was seen in a video on X. In the video, he jokingly stated, “I have six fingers”, smiled, and showed a cup of coffee. The video quickly went viral on social media.

The question of whether Zolfaghari is truly AI has been unconfirmed. However, this speculation highlights the increasing role of artificial intelligence in the battlefield and the importance of public messaging in modern warfare.
